Wednesday March 10, 2010Learning from Home
During 2008 Foresight was successful in gaining funding from the Capital Motivating e-Learning (CaMeL). This support is from the Learning Skill Council (LSC) and managed by The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE). The equipment/software purchased through the funding will be used to facilitate a loan scheme to offer learners who do not own PC’s, laptops, audio navigators, adaptive technology and software to develop and practice their newly developed skills, within their home environment. In particular this will help our learners on low income and faced with highlevels of depravation as very few own their own PC’s or have access to adaptive technology. This scheme has been initiated following research from our users and will be tremendous asset to our teaching
provision leading to a huge improvement in the quality of the learning experience. This will serve to build confidence of the learner and dramatically decrease the time tutors spend readdressing the activity from the previous session resulting in an all-round Improvement in the quality of the learner
experience for all learners.
Home Learning
Foresight will shortly be launching a new home visit ICT and E-Learning scheme which will encourage house bound people into learning. This will be done by utilizing our fantastic volunteer network who will visit the learner with a laptop or desktop computer and introduce them to ICT. The equipment can then be loaned to the individual and ongoing training provided. This is a new venture and will further utilize the strength and knowledge of our volunteers.
Ability Net/Switched On Communities
Foresight has forged strong links through the switched on communities programme which has enabled Foresight to supplying 32 voluntary community organisations, throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region with adaptive technology enhancing their ability to work with disabled people by removing some of the multiple barriers faced with regards to trying various adaptive software (Jaws, Dragon Supernova etc), hardware (keyboards, mice, speech and screen readers etc) which is always expensive and hard to access. Also telephone/online adaptive assessments will be a possibility to get the clients correct adaptive needs. Our partner Ability Net who have a vast knowledge and experience in this field are offering extensive support and guidance to ensure the success of this project.

We aim to provide a professional and efficient virtual service to individuals and companies. We transcribe from a wide range of media (letters, posters, brochures and booklets), providing a bespoke service to suit the client’s individual needs and specifications. We provide high quality transcription.
Whether you have a large or small transcription project, we will provide rapid, accurate and professional services to suit you or your organisations legal needs. We can transfer any written text to Braille, Large Print or Audio including the Audio Navigator.
Audio Navigator
We now have access to a new device, the Audio Navigator which is a purpose built digital audio player that provides users with a simple to
